Responsibilities & Context

  • Incubation & Hatchability
  • Ensure all incubation procedures are strictly followed to maximize hatchability and optimize chick quality.
  • Monitor temperature, humidity, ventilation, and egg turning schedules throughout the incubation process.
  • Biosecurity & Sanitation
  • Implement and maintain strict biosecurity protocols to prevent contamination and disease outbreaks.
  • Supervise thorough cleaning and disinfection of hatchery facilities, equipment, egg trays, and chick handling tools.
  • Egg Handling & Setting
  • versee the proper storage and handling of hatching eggs, ensuring correct temperature, humidity, and hygiene.
  • Supervise all activities from egg collection to setting and transferring, ensuring accuracy and compliance with SOPs.
  • Chick Quality & Processing
  • Ensure chicks are hatched under ideal conditions and processed quickly with minimal stress, maintaining high standards of welfare and quality.
  • Oversee sexing, vaccination, counting, and packaging of chicks.
  • Staff Training & Team Management
  • Conduct regular training sessions for hatchery staff to ensure adherence to procedures and continuous performance improvement.
  • Lead, supervise, and motivate the hatchery team to maintain efficiency and accountability.
  • Operations, Recordkeeping & Coordination
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the hatchery to ensure timely and accurate execution of tasks.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of hatchability rates, egg setting, transfer data, and chick output.
  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., breeder farms, logistics, quality control) for seamless operations.
  • Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Agriculture, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a hatchery or poultry production environment.
  • Strong understanding of hatchery technology, egg incubation, chick handling, and biosecurity standards.
  • Good leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Familiarity with recordkeeping and data analysis tools (basic MS Office, hatchery management systems)
