  • Tertiary education in finance / CA or CMA intermediate/ master’s in accounting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of Tax and VAT laws.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation abilities, with the capacity to engage and persuade executives imulticultural environment.
  • Experience working in large organizations, preferably multinational manufacturing companies.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and working in an ERP-driven environment.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities & Context

  • Develop and implement VAT/Tax strategies that align with the company’s financial objectives, ensure compliance with local regulations, and minimize risk.
  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of VAT/Tax returns.
  • Maintain accurate records, including Purchase Register 6.1, Sales Register 6.2, and all other registers as required by the VAT and SD Act, 2012 & Rules 2016.
  • Ensure full compliance with VAT/Tax regulations, including registration, reporting, and payment obligations.
  • Implement and maintain VAT software in accordance with government requirements.
  • Manage VAT/Tax audits conducted by authorities and other government auditors.
  • Represent the company in legal proceedings and maintain regular communication with VAT/Tax authorities, customs, and government offices.
  • Maintain organized VAT/Tax files and documents within the accounts department.
  • Stay informed about changes in VAT legislation and assess their impact on the organization.
  • Lead and attend income tax assessment hearings, offering expert guidance and representation.
  • Meet all internal and external VAT/Tax reporting deadlines.
  • Provide accurate VAT/Tax information, reports, and guidance to cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure VAT/Tax considerations are integrated into business processes.
  • Ensure accurate recording and tracking of customer collections.
  • Prepare Bank Reconciliation Statements (BRS) for collection accounts.
  • Review and monitor accounts receivable transactions, providing timely reports.
  • Undertake additional tasks assigned by senior management, offering expertise and support as required.
  • Collaborate closely with business unit heads and other managers within the country, as well as external organizations, including industry and legislative bodies.
  • Work in partnership with the ESAB group and other internal functions.
