Specialized training or certifications in cosmetic or detergent formulation will be considered an added advantage.

A minimum of 8–10 years of progressively responsible experience in the formulation and production of soaps, detergents, or cosmetic products.

Demonstrated expertise in quality control, lab testing, and product standardization; experience with BSTI certification is a strong asset.

Hands-on experience in industrial or small-scale production environments, ideally within livelihood or skill development initiatives.
-
Prior involvement in NGO, humanitarian, or development sector projects will be viewed favorably.

In-depth understanding of formulation chemistry, including surfactants, additives, and raw material interactions relevant to soap and detergent production.

Skilled in conducting product performance tests such as stability, pH levels, and effectiveness, with the ability to analyze results for ongoing quality enhancement.

Competent in preparing and maintaining lab documentation, including SOPs and quality assurance protocols.

Well-versed in chemical safety practices, including proper storage, handling, and disposal of materials.

Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for data analysis and reporting.

Capable of training and mentoring production teams and community members from diverse educational backgrounds using hands-on and inclusive methods.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Bangla.

Able to perform effectively under pressure and in field-based or humanitarian settings, maintaining adherence to quality and safety standards.

Demonstrates a high level of professionalism, accountability, and cultural sensitivity when engaging with vulnerable groups, including refugees and host communities.
Responsibilities & Context
-
Design, test, and refine formulations for beauty and laundry soaps, ensuring they meet quality, safety, consistency, and cost-efficiency standards.

Perform lab testing to assess product stability, performance, and safety, and prepare all required documentation and samples for BSTI certification.

Ensure all production activities comply with relevant health, safety, hygiene, and environmental regulations.

Maintain and regularly update records related to formulations, testing procedures, and quality control.
-
Provide technical support and hands-on training to production staff and cooperative members in soap production and quality management practices.

Evaluate raw material quality and recommend procurement standards to maintain consistent product output.

Work closely with project and livelihood teams to align production with market needs, project objectives, and sustainability goals.

Maintain laboratory tools and equipment, follow chemical safety protocols, and ensure proper storage and handling at all times.

Promote continuous improvement through innovation in product development, process efficiency, and cost optimization.

Contribute to technical documentation, exhibitions, demonstrations, and other promotional activities supporting the project's WASH and livelihood initiatives.
