The Bhasan Char camp marks a significant milestone in global efforts to support refugees in Bangladesh. Bhasan Char is a newly formed island located 28 nautical miles west of Patenga in Chattogram and 21 nautical miles south of Noakhali district, with a total area of 26 square kilometers, of which 7 square kilometers are within embankments. In 2020, the Government of Bangladesh established the Bhasan Char Camp to relocate refugees from Cox’s Bazar.

To enhance livelihood and self-reliance opportunities for refugees, NGO Forum, with support from UNHCR, is providing skills and livelihood services for those residing on the island. The initial phase of the project will involve selecting 200 individuals from 200 households based on specific criteria. These beneficiaries will receive hands-on training in various crafts, including fabric production, hand-weaving, and embroidery, tailored to their existing skills. After completing the training, participants will be provided with essential tools like sewing machines, handlooms, and raw materials. They will then be given home-based production targets to meet specific goals.

The primary objective of this position is to fulfill the responsibilities of a 'Designer' for the "Self-Reliance and Livelihoods Project" on Bhasan Char. The goal is to ensure the effective implementation of the self-reliance initiative, maintaining the highest standards of quality throughout.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing new products, especially handcrafted items.
• Ensuring product quality.
• Overseeing daily production activities and reporting to the line manager.
• Assisting the line supervisor with production planning.
• Supporting the well-being of production volunteers.
• Assisting in the development of training content.
• Creating various product designs.
• Providing training to technical volunteers on new products.
• Maintaining display boards with new product designs.
• Offering suggestions for new training programs.
• Assisting with production tasks and managing workers to meet targets.
• Providing logistical support during both production and training sessions.
• Assisting in the cutting and sewing process to ensure proper product development.
• Performing any other tasks assigned by the project management unit.
