Education :
  • Minimum BSc. (Hons.) in Environmental Sciences/Civil and Environmental Engineering/ Environment and Disaster Management/Forestry and Environment/ Geography and Environment/Environment and Natural Resources Management, or BSc. in Civil Engineering from a UGC-approved university.
Experience :
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): NGO
Additional Requirements :
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in working on Environmental management and/or RECP implementation.
  • Relevant working experience with PKSF or any project funded by any multi-lateral development partners would be preferred.
  • Experience in working in enterprise development related projects will be an added advantage.
  • Proven knowledge of environmental monitoring regarding use of resource, energy, water, waste-water, waste management, and air emission.
  • Field-level experience on environmental management (IEE, EIA, ESMP, etc.) and RECP implementation.
  • Experience of providing environment and resources management training, awareness building among mass people on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) issues.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good computer knowledge (MS office suite, typing both English and Bangla).

Responsibilities & Context

Background

  • Friends In Village Development Bangladesh (FIVDB) will implement the sub-project ‘Promoting Sustainable Growth in Poultry Sub-sector through RECEP Practices’ under the ‘Sustainable Microenterprise and Resilient Transformation (SMART)’ project.
  • The project, jointly financed by the World Bank, PKSF, and FIVDB, aims to promote resource-efficient and resilient growth in microenterprises (MEs) within the poultry sub-sector.

Sub-project Objectives

  • Promote resource-efficient, cleaner production and good farming practices.
  • Implement climate-resilient technologies.
  • Encourage circular economy practices.
  • Increase the technical knowledge and capacity of MEs.

Sub-project Working Areas

  • The project will be implemented in Shantiganj, Derai, and Biwhwambarpur Upazilas of Sunamganj district.

Duration

  • The initial contract term is one year, with the possibility of extension until June 30, 2028, based on performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project Assistance:

    • Support the Project Manager in planning, monitoring, and supervising project activities.

  • Awareness Creation:

    • Raise awareness among microenterprises (MEs) regarding environmental issues, climate-resilient RECP, climate vulnerability, and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).

  • Training and Education:

    • Provide training on Environment, Climate Resilient RECP, and Climate Vulnerability to MEs.

  • Field Monitoring:

    • Conduct regular field visits to monitor RECP practices, collect and analyze data, and provide reports.

  • Staff Education:

    • Educate project staff on environmental issues, climate-resilient RECP, climate vulnerability, and OHS practices.

  • Guidance:

    • Guide project staff in implementing climate-resilient RECP and OHS practices.

  • ESMP Preparation:

    • Prepare a sub-project-specific Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP).

  • Environment Clubs:

    • Facilitate the formation of Environment Clubs, organize regular meetings, celebrate national and international days, and engage youth in programs.

  • Liaison:

    • Coordinate with local authorities, such as the Department of Environment (DoE).

  • Additional Duties:

    • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Project Manager and senior management of FIVDB.
