Responsibilities & Context

  • Manage cattle rearing, including calves, heifers, and oxen, ensuring proper nutrition, housing, and health care.
  • Supervise regular bathing, cleaning, and grooming of cattle to maintain high hygiene standards.
  • Oversee the cleanliness and sanitation of milk utensils, manage the yard and sheds, and implement footbath protocols to prevent disease transmission.
  • Coordinate feed management to ensure all cattle receive proper nutrition.
  • Supervise fodder production and land management, including cultivation and harvesting for feed.
  • Oversee the selection of dairy cattle for breeding, manage artificial insemination, monitor pregnancies, and ensure overall herd health.
  • Conduct routine tests on swabs, serum, urine, cow dung, feed, milk, and water to monitor and maintain herd health.
  • Administer vaccinations, medication, and deworming as needed.
  • Prepare trial reports based on research, analyze results, and document findings.
  • Manage R&D trial budgets as well as overall cattle budgets to ensure efficient resource allocation.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities to optimize expenses related to milk sales and the purchase and sale of fattening animals.
  • Organize and facilitate staff training programs, focusing on job rotation and skill development to improve operational efficiency and knowledge.
