The Ghat Officer will be responsible for overseeing the operations at a designated ghat. This includes ensuring the smooth receipt and delivery of cement bags. Key duties involve maintaining accurate records of the number of cement bags received, delivered, and in stock at the end of each day, as well as regularly supervising the operations at the ghat or warehouse.

The officer will report to the ghat or warehouse in the morning, mark attendance, and brief the line manager on the status of the ghat. This will include providing detailed updates, both verbal and digital, along with reports on the preparatory plans for the day’s deliveries.

The role also requires coordinating with sales to ensure early morning deliveries, and working closely with the sales and logistics teams to maintain a seamless supply of cement bags to the ghat or warehouse. In case of any issues, the officer must promptly inform the line manager. If there are any innovative delivery ideas, these should be discussed and implemented as quickly as possible.

The Ghat Officer must be capable of managing labor for unloading cement and handling truck drivers effectively. They should also have a strong understanding of trucks and their accessories, including workforce management, truck maintenance, rotation, and fuel management. Based on delivery forecasts from the sales team, the officer will ensure adequate stock levels at the ghat or warehouse. If stock shortages arise, they will coordinate with vessel suppliers and factory contacts to arrange timely loading.

The role requires strong communication and organizational skills to manage stock availability and related operations at the ghat or warehouse. The officer should also be proficient in creating and updating delivery challans, maintaining timely ERP updates, and generating reports.

Good computer skills are essential, particularly in emailing and using MS Office. Additionally, the officer will be responsible for fostering healthy relationships between the various links in the supply chain, including the market, warehouse/ghat, factory, and head office. This ensures smooth communication and quick resolution of any issues.

Finally, the Ghat Officer will be expected to prepare reports and presentations as needed and present them to senior management.
