Hospital Lead (Maternal & Child Hospital)

• Minimum 7 years of experience in managing health programs or projects within development or emergency settings, including at least 2 years in a Hospital Lead or equivalent leadership position.

• Up-to-date understanding of Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) priorities, challenges, national programs, and relevant strategies.

• Strong understanding of the Bangladesh healthcare system and humanitarian operating environment.

• Proven ability to provide effective leadership, sound judgment, and timely decision-making in complex and challenging situations.

• Ability to effectively manage hospital setup, daily operations, and quality healthcare delivery at the same time.

• Excellent coordination, communication, stakeholder management, and partnership-building skills.

• Strong capability in financial management, budgeting, and effective allocation of resources.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to address operational challenges effectively.

The Hospital Lead will provide overall leadership, coordination, and operational oversight to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-centred healthcare services in accordance with national and international standards, humanitarian principles, and Save the Children’s Quality Framework.

The role will play a key part in establishing and transitioning the facility from a PHCC to a specialized Maternal and Child Hospital, including CEmONC services. The position will ensure the facility is fully prepared in terms of staffing, infrastructure, medical supplies, equipment, and operational systems before the commencement of full-scale services.

The Hospital Lead will ensure that all departments operate in accordance with the Hospital Charter, maintaining respect, dignity, effective communication, and informed consent throughout the patient care process. The position will coordinate clinical, operational, and support services to ensure healthcare delivery remains effective, equitable, timely, integrated, and efficient.

The role will also strengthen governance, accountability, quality assurance, and continuous improvement systems while ensuring that hospital services remain relevant and well integrated with the wider humanitarian and national health system.

During the initial phase, the primary focus will be on hospital setup, system development, capacity strengthening, and readiness for Maternal and Child Specialized Hospital and CEmONC services. Once the hospital becomes fully operational, the focus will gradually shift toward optimizing services, improving quality, and ensuring sustainable healthcare delivery.

During major humanitarian emergencies, the Hospital Lead may be required to take on additional responsibilities beyond the standard role and adjust working hours according to operational needs.
