Responsibilities & Context

  • Ensure all welfare activities are in compliance with Bangladesh Labor Law 2006, and Labor Rules 2015 & 2022.
  • Prepare for any compliance audits as per the buyer’s Code of Conduct (COC) and standards.
  • Organize routine welfare meetings and training sessions, including orientation, grievance management, OHS (Occupational Health and Safety), etc.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of the grievance management system.
  • Establish and maintain effective two-way communication between management and workers, holding consultations to promote harmonious relations.
  • Oversee the provision of worker amenities such as dining areas, adequate washroom facilities, and drinking water.
  • Advise and educate workers on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), machine guards, sanitation practices, fire safety, and other health and safety-related issues.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and guidelines.
  • Conduct awareness training programs on rules and regulations as per the buyer’s Code of Conduct and national laws.
  • Conduct orientation sessions for new employees.
  • Organize and lead union, safety committee, and grievance meetings, preparing minutes and distributing them accordingly.
  • Take special care of workers, particularly pregnant and injured workers.
  • Provide counseling and regular follow-ups for pregnant workers.
  • Ensure that maternity benefits are provided in accordance with the Labor Law.
  • Regularly update management on compliance reports and activities.
