Responsibilities & Context

  • Quality Assurance:
  • Participate in the laboratory's quality assurance planning.
  • Support the development of quality assurance tools and guidelines in alignment with national standards.
  • Assist in external quality assurance (EQA) activities, including slide rechecking.
  • Logistics Planning and Management:
  • Plan and prepare annual and quarterly laboratory logistics requirements.
  • Ensure the availability of anti-TB drugs, reagents, and other necessary supplies.
  • Laboratory Operations and Safety:
  • Maintain essential safety measures for infection control within the laboratory.
  • Ensure proper smearing and microscopy practices, adhering to SOPs and guidelines.
  • Perform maintenance of microscopes and other laboratory equipment as per SOPs.
  • Ensure the hygienic disposal of waste materials.
  • Diagnosis and Referrals:
  • Refer presumptive and complicated cases to designated facilities for further diagnosis.
  • Maintain a contact tracing register to facilitate active case findings and referrals.
  • Collaboration and Support:
  • Assist government Medical Technologists (Lab) at UHC labs when necessary.
  • Maintain regular coordination with related stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
  • Data Management and Reporting:
  • Record results accurately in the prescribed forms and registers.
  • Report promptly to the requesting staff.
  • Prepare and submit complete and accurate monthly and quarterly reports as per guidelines.
  • Other Responsibilities:
  • Support higher management in decision-making.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the project or management.
