PHD Bangladesh is recruiting a Laboratory Technologist for Mother & Child Hospital (MCH), Camp 21, Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.
The Laboratory Technologist will provide accurate, timely, and high-quality laboratory services to support clinical care in a CEmOC-capable humanitarian setting serving Rohingya and host communities.
The role focuses on routine and emergency diagnostics, quality assurance, infection prevention, and smooth laboratory operations in coordination with clinical teams.
Perform routine and emergency laboratory tests including haematology, biochemistry, urine analysis, and rapid diagnostic tests.
Support diagnosis, surveillance, and emergency response through reliable lab services.
Verify test results and immediately report critical or abnormal findings to clinicians.
Collect, receive, label, and process biological specimens (blood, urine, stool, sputum, swabs, etc.).
Ensure proper handling of samples following infection prevention and control (IPC) and safety protocols.
Ensure timely processing and reporting of laboratory results, especially for emergency cases.
Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, microscopes, glucometers, analyzers, and refrigerators.
Report technical faults and ensure timely maintenance support.
Implement internal quality control measures and participate in quality assurance activities.
Ensure strict adherence to biosafety standards, IPC protocols, and biomedical waste management procedures.
Maintain accurate laboratory registers, records, and reporting systems with confidentiality.
Ensure proper documentation of test results and laboratory activities.
Support stock management of reagents, consumables, and PPE.
Report shortages and assist in maintaining adequate inventory levels.
Coordinate with clinicians, nurses, pharmacists, and laboratory teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
Assist in disease surveillance, outbreak response, and specimen referral when required.
Work collaboratively with laboratory assistants and provide guidance when necessary.
Perform any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor as required.
Other Benefits
Monthly Gross Salary: BDT 50,000 (fixed).
Bonus: 10% of monthly gross salary.
Office hours as per organizational schedule.
Annual leave as per organizational policy.
