Responsibilities & Context

  • Interpret Results: Interpret test results according to WHO guidelines by consulting with clinical pathologists.
  • Conduct Tests: Perform blood group, type, and compatibility tests, as well as full blood counts.
  • Cell and Microorganism Counting: Count cells in prepared samples, including microorganisms like bacteria or parasites.
  • Analyze Sample Parameters: Determine if sample parameters fall within normal ranges and identify any abnormalities.
  • Sample Storage: Store all positive or instructed samples at the appropriate temperature.
  • Reporting Results: Summarize test results and report findings in the electronic system to referring physicians, medical specialists, and the report generation department.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor laboratory stock and supplies and report inventory levels to the purchase department.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Inform the Clinic Manager/In-charge about any equipment issues and maintain a downtime register.
  • Prepare Reports: Prepare and send monthly reports to the reporting In-charge.
  • Other Assignments: Perform any tasks as directed by higher authority.
  • Infection Prevention: Maintain and monitor infection prevention procedures in line with established protocols.
  • Adhere to Best Practices: Follow best practices in medical laboratory sciences and stay updated with advancements in the field.
