Education


  • Bachelor/Honors, Completion of University Degree (Bachelors) in Food Science, Supply Chain, Logistics, Food Technology/Engineering, Food Safety, Agriculture, Nutrition or any relevant subject.

  • Experience: At least 5 years of work experience in Food Technology (preservation of food quality and safety), Food Assistance Programs or any related experience.
  • Language: Fluency in spoken and written both in English and Bangla language.

Responsibilities & Context

  • Collect, analyze, and report food safety data, documenting incidents such as rejections, rework, near misses, and anomalies. Ensure accurate record-keeping to enhance risk assessment and management in country operations.
  • Support food safety incident investigations, conduct regular inspections and spot checks of stored food products, recommend corrective actions to maintain quality, and perform periodic technical assessments of suppliers to ensure compliance with WFP’s quality and safety standards.
  • Provide evidence-based recommendations on control measures to mitigate food commodity losses and safety issues. Develop tools for rapid response, review sample analysis reports for conformity and safety, and recommend corrective and preventive actions as necessary.
  • Assist in training and building capacity for WFP staff, government agencies, and partners on food safety, quality, and fortification. Support the development of training materials and guidelines to enhance knowledge in food safety and quality.
  • Ensure effective warehouse management by supporting logistics in planning, receiving, storing, and delivering food commodities while applying best storage practices.
  • Support the implementation of an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) system to protect stored food commodities.
  • Provide technical support on food fortification and food technology aspects of WFP’s food assistance programs.
  • Draft follow-up letters, issue visit reports, and provide recommendations on supplier quality assurance and management systems.
  • Coordinate and liaise with inspection companies and laboratories for the inspection, sampling, and analysis of food commodities.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of food fortification and food technology protocols, ensuring alignment with WFP’s procurement and supply chain strategies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
