  • Enrolled with the Bar Council; Supreme Court license preferred.
  • 5–6 years’ experience in legal protection, ideally in humanitarian settings (Cox’s Bazar context).
  • Proven ability to lead legal teams and manage complex cases.
  • Strong knowledge of refugee law, human rights, and protection principles.
  • Skilled in communication, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience in donor reporting and budget handling.
  • Committed to safeguarding and humanitarian values.

Responsibilities & Context

Role Overview
This role will lead all legal protection activities, including donor liaison, budgeting, documentation, and programme coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Leadership & Coordination
  • Lead and align legal protection initiatives with HCMP goals.

  • Represent the programme in advocacy and coordination meetings.

Legal Case Management & Advocacy
  • Oversee complex legal cases, counselling, and mediation.

  • Drive advocacy for refugee rights and conduct community consultations.

Team Management & Capacity Building
  • Supervise legal officers, paralegals, and panel lawyers.

  • Provide training, mentorship, and promote safeguarding.

Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with organisations for cohesive services.

  • Maintain donor relations and secure funding.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
  • Track project progress and quality.

  • Prepare required donor and internal reports.

Documentation & Compliance
  • Draft legal documents, proposals, and SOPs.

  • Ensure clear communication with stakeholders.

Budget & Resource Management
  • Manage budgets with transparency and compliance.

Safeguarding
  • Protect all stakeholders from harm, abuse, or exploitation.
  • Promote safeguarding standards and follow reporting procedures.
