Responsibilities & Context

  • Supervision & Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and motivate the sample room staff, including pattern makers, tailors, and technicians, to ensure operational efficiency and high-quality output.
  • Sample Development: Manage the development of garment samples based on client or designer specifications, ensuring that all technical requirements are met within established timelines.
  • Quality Control: Conduct thorough quality checks on samples to ensure they adhere to required standards before they are shared with designers or clients.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide expert technical guidance to resolve challenges in pattern making, cutting, stitching, and garment construction during the sample production process.
  • Workflow Management: Design and maintain an effective workflow within the sample room, ensuring all tasks and projects are completed promptly and efficiently.
  • Material Coordination: Coordinate with the fabric sourcing and trims departments to ensure the timely availability of materials required for sample production.
  • Cost Estimation: Collaborate with production and costing teams to estimate sample development costs and identify opportunities for cost-saving without compromising quality.
  • Pattern Finalization: Oversee the creation and finalization of patterns for new designs, ensuring precision and production feasibility.
  • Liaison Role: Serve as a liaison between designers, clients, and production teams to facilitate clear communication and ensure the efficient execution of sample development projects.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of sample requests, development processes, and final outcomes for future reference and audits.
  • Industry Awareness: Stay updated on industry trends, techniques, and innovations, and recommend process improvements to implement modern and efficient solutions.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all sample development activities comply with company standards, ethical practices, and sustainability goals.
  • Team Development: Identify skill gaps among team members and organize training sessions or workshops to enhance their competencies and improve overall team performance.
