Responsibilities & Context

  • Responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of biomedical engineering support.
  • Advise hospital administrators on the planning, acquisition, and use of medical equipment.
  • Plan and follow up on pre-installation requirements for biomedical machines.
  • Determine the time, costs, resources, and materials needed to perform work activities.
  • Install, adjust, maintain, repair, and provide technical support for biomedical equipment.
  • Advise and assist in the application of instrumentation in clinical and laboratory environments.
  • Plan and coordinate the preparation of rosters and manage leave for the biomedical department.
  • Evaluate the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of biomedical equipment.
  • Train end users and other personnel on the proper use of equipment.
  • Collaborate with technologists, chemists, and medical professionals to research the engineering aspects of human biological systems.
  • Provide information and communicate with other departments regarding the functionality of biomedical machines.
  • Represent the organization when communicating with external parties, including suppliers, manufacturers, government entities, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates via telephone, written communication, email, or in person.
  • Maintain records of daily service reports, service requests, and breakdown registers.
  • Analyze information by breaking it down into separate parts to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  • Authorize and follow up on parts requirements for biomedical machines and ensure preventive maintenance is conducted.
