Responsibilities & Context

  • Perform chemical analysis on body fluids, including urine, blood, saliva, and bile.
  • Prepare blood and plasma for transfusions by conducting compatibility tests.
  • Analyze and identify blood cells using microscopy.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is clean, functional, and properly calibrated.
  • Stock and organize lab supplies while maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Compile comprehensive and professional laboratory reports.
  • Stay updated by attending workshops, reading, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Clean and sanitize the laboratory area, following sanitation protocols.
  • Dispose of hazardous and infectious waste safely and responsibly.
  • Adhere to patient confidentiality laws.
  • Receive, label, and analyze samples, such as blood, tissue, and toxic substances.
  • Design and conduct laboratory tests according to standard procedures, making observations and interpreting results.
  • Conduct experiments under specific conditions to validate or reject hypotheses using precise scientific methods.
  • Store chemicals, fluids, and gases safely according to safety instructions.
  • Record data and results accurately in both paper and electronic formats.
  • Maintain equipment and assist with ordering laboratory supplies.
  • Follow all safety guidelines strictly and maintain a clean, organized environment.
