Responsibilities & Context

  • Independently manage research and product development, stay updated on the latest fashion trends, and create customer-specific collections.
  • Ensure smooth communication with customers and suppliers on daily merchandising activities and approvals.
  • Understand customer requirements and collaborate closely with the design team to manage accurate samples within timelines and quality standards.
  • Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress toward goals, and track details, data, information, and activities.
  • Oversee the entire merchandising cycle, including file/record keeping, sampling, T&As, QA documentation, production follow-ups, and shipment booking.
  • Engage in costing and price negotiations with customers and vendors, preparing detailed costing sheets with necessary breakdowns from factories.
  • Ensure that all suppliers use nominated sources for trims.
  • Provide monthly intelligence reports on cost fluctuations, both actual and potential, to the business.
  • Coordinate and monitor product quality through quality personnel.
  • Maintain the Time and Action (T&A) plan to ensure on-time shipment for all orders.
  • Select and visit various fabric/textile mills, production, printing, and washing factories to build long-term relationships for current and future orders.
  • Regularly assess factory performance and source new factories as per requirements.
  • Recommend changes to products or process improvements to optimize production without compromising the garment’s aesthetics.
  • Conduct production meetings with factories and QA teams, following up on order progress.
  • Analyze customer progress reports in terms of growth, shortcomings, product, and price points, gather feedback on inquiries, and close orders with clarity on cost and margin.
  • Review new tech packs and developments to identify critical points and provide the right details to the factory.
  • Ensure all customer requirements are met during production based on tech packs.
  • Understand and adhere to ethical behavior and business practices, ensuring personal and team behavior aligns with organizational values.
  • Perform any other related tasks as assigned by management.
