Responsibilities & Context

  • Establish microbiological standards for all raw materials, process water, and finished products, including sterility testing of parenteral preparations, in compliance with compendium requirements, and develop testing procedures for all microbiological analyses.
  • Define microbiological standards for various production sites, environmental conditions, water systems, and microbiological laboratory environments, including testing booths.
  • Ensure the collection of samples following Good Sampling Practices (GSP) and conduct microbiological analyses of raw materials and finished products, such as liquids, creams, ointments, and parenteral preparations.
  • Assess the potency of antibiotics in raw materials and finished products, adhering to specified requirements.
  • Organize and execute the Environmental Monitoring (EM) program, including reviewing EM records, investigating action levels, and implementing necessary improvements.
  • Oversee routine microbiological testing of purified water, treated water, and potable water from all usage points at predetermined intervals.
  • Perform assessments of visible and sub-visible particles in sterile products.
