Mid Level Software Engineer - Odoo

Required Qualifications

✔ 2–4 years of professional experience in Odoo development, preferably with versions 16, 17, 18, or 19.

✔ Strong proficiency in Python and Odoo ORM, including models, fields, computed fields, and constraints.

✔ Solid understanding of Odoo module structure, manifest files, and inheritance patterns.

✔ Hands-on experience with QWeb reports and views.

✔ Familiarity with PostgreSQL, including query writing and basic database performance optimization.

✔ Experience with Git-based workflows and collaborative software development.

✔ Ability to understand, customize, and extend Odoo core source code while following best practices.

✔ Basic knowledge of JavaScript and the Odoo OWL framework for frontend customization.

✔ Good communication skills and the ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

✔ Knowledge of Docker and containerized deployment workflows.

✔ Exposure to accounting workflows, inventory valuation methods, or HR and payroll modules.

✔ Contributions to open-source Odoo community modules or the Odoo Community Association (OCA).

✔ Experience with Odoo automated testing frameworks, including unit tests and tour tests.

✔ Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment, and release management.

About the Project

We are building a robust and scalable business management platform using Odoo to support small and medium-sized enterprises across our group of companies. The platform integrates end-to-end business operations, including Website, HR, Accounting, and CRM, into a unified ecosystem.

Our goal is to deliver customized Odoo solutions that are clean, maintainable, scalable, and easy to extend. We collaborate closely with different departments to understand their business processes and translate them into well-structured Odoo modules and configurations.

This is a hands-on engineering role involving the full lifecycle of Odoo projects, including:

✔ Custom module development and business logic implementation.

✔ Integration with third-party APIs and external platforms.

✔ UI customization using Odoo's OWL framework and QWeb templates.

✔ Data migration, system configuration, and version upgrades.

✔ Performance optimization and code quality improvements.

Role Overview

As a Mid-Level Software Engineer (Odoo), you will design, develop, customize, and maintain Odoo modules to extend the platform's core functionality. You will work closely with business analysts, QA engineers, and project managers to deliver reliable, production-ready solutions.

The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of the Odoo framework, Python backend development, and frontend customization. You should be comfortable working with existing Odoo source code and following best practices for module architecture, maintainability, and upgrade compatibility.

Key Responsibilities

✔ Develop, customize, and maintain Odoo modules to meet business requirements.

✔ Extend existing Odoo applications, including Website, Accounting, HR, and CRM, to support business operations.

✔ Build and customize user interfaces using QWeb templates and the OWL JavaScript framework.

✔ Write clean, maintainable, and testable Python code following Odoo's MVC architecture and ORM conventions.

✔ Integrate Odoo with external systems and platforms using REST and JSON-RPC APIs.

✔ Perform data migration and system upgrades across different Odoo versions.

✔ Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in custom modules and core Odoo applications.

✔ Collaborate with stakeholders to define functional requirements, prepare technical specifications, and participate in code reviews.

✔ Develop and execute unit and integration tests to ensure module reliability and system stability.

✔ Support deployment and maintenance across development, staging, and production environments using Docker or similar tools.
