Responsibilities & Context

Project Name: Inclusive Services and Opportunities (ISO) for Human Capital Development and Livelihood

Strategic Priority: Women’s Rights & Gender Equity

Location: Dhaka (with frequent travel to project districts)

Contract Type: Fixed-term (until 31 December 2026, renewable based on funding and performance)

Job Overview:

The Project Coordinator will ensure the successful implementation of the ISO project, focusing on timely completion, efficient use of resources, and high-quality outcomes. This role involves planning, coordinating, and monitoring all project activities while preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders.

The position demands in-depth knowledge of GBV service mechanisms in Bangladesh, rights-based approaches, and the social and legal context of Violence Against Women (VAW), including relevant laws, policies, and international standards. The Coordinator will facilitate training, support GBV service providers, and maintain strong collaboration with government and non-government actors.

A solid understanding of the Multi-Sectoral Programme on VAW under the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MoWCA) is essential, along with insights into patriarchy, gender norms, sexuality, women’s identity, bodily integrity, and sexual rights. Strong networking and liaison skills are required to strengthen partnerships and ensure coordinated project delivery. The Coordinator will report to the Lead – Women’s Rights & Gender Equity, ActionAid Bangladesh.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Planning and Direction:

  • Lead project design, planning, and execution aligned with donor commitments and government priorities.

  • Develop clear workplans to achieve project objectives.

  • Monitor annual and quarterly plans, ensuring timely delivery of activities.

2. Team Leadership and Supervision:

  • Supervise and guide the project team on technical priorities and service assessments.

  • Mentor district teams, promoting accountability and effective communication.

  • Conduct regular meetings, performance check-ins, and field supervision visits.

3. Project Implementation and Delivery:

  • Ensure quality implementation across all GBV service facilities and initiatives.

  • Address operational challenges with practical solutions.

  • Ensure consistency and alignment of technical recommendations across the team.

4. Government and Partner Engagement:

  • Serve as primary liaison for MoWCA, MoHFW, MoHA, police, hospitals, legal aid providers, and local NGOs.

  • Maintain collaboration with UNFPA, including regular updates, consultations, and joint reviews.

  • Represent the project in national and district coordination forums, technical working groups, and joint monitoring visits.

5. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning:

  • Oversee monitoring systems and ensure timely data collection and analysis from all service points.

  • Use gender- and age-disaggregated data to guide decision-making and improve service quality.

  • Produce high-quality reports for ActionAid, government, and UNFPA, documenting best practices, challenges, and lessons learned.

6. Quality Assurance and Safeguarding:

  • Uphold GBV SOPs, safeguarding, PSEA, confidentiality, and survivor-centered practices.

  • Ensure follow-up on assessments, audits, and technical recommendations.

  • Ensure ethical data management and protection protocols in all districts.

7. Capacity Building and Technical Support:

  • Manage training plans and provide continuous learning support to staff, government stakeholders, and volunteers.

  • Design and facilitate workshops, review sessions, and refresher trainings as required.

8. Financial and Administrative Oversight:

  • Monitor budget utilization, forecast expenses, and coordinate procurement and compliance.

  • Maintain timely documentation, donor deliverables, and audit readiness.

  • Manage project assets, logistics, and operational requirements across districts.

9. Relationships:

  • Report to the Lead – Women’s Rights & Gender Equity while maintaining collaboration with cross-sectional personnel and other projects.
