Masters, Master of Social Science (MSS)
Additional Requirements
- Master’s in environmental science/business administration or any social science from the reputed university.
- At least 6 years of relevance experience in managing complex professional programs/projects/offices of international organizations or companies.
- Extensive knowledge of management styles, project management, international cooperation with local partners, country/region of the Country Office, techniques, reporting standards, presentation and communication with the different forum, donors and stakeholders following the standard languages.
- Strong understanding and networking on the waste management sectors of Bangladesh especially donors understanding, INGOs, government, private sectors, business association etc.
- Practical working experiences on project cycle management, understanding on project log frame, monitoring and evaluation.
- Project field of expertise for example circular economy, plastic waste management or other relevant subject on an academic level.
- Social skills to agree on deliverables, ensure progress with staff and to support local partners.
- Behavioral values and skills: accountability, respect, diversity & inclusion, sustainability, teambuilding, negotiation, conflict management, collaboration, flexibility, creativity.
- Extensive Writing skills to clearly formulate program and project proposals, plans and reports.
- Knowledge of the legal framework that governs Cordaid’s operations, as required by local and national government and by major donors (EU, UN, US, Bilateral Donors)
Responsibilities & Context
Program Plan:
- Translate RESILIENT project results into SMART objectives in designated areas.
- Formulate an operational project plan and Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP) aligned with project goals.
- Ensure the project remains within budget and infrastructural limitations.
- Develop a long-term plan for the RESILIENT program’s future expansion, in alignment with Cordaid's country strategy.
Project Implementation:
- Oversee the implementation of project activities within the set timeframe.
- Collaborate with and establish relationships with stakeholders, including city corporations, waste processing companies, environmental departments, local elites, waste collectors, aggregators/bhangari, and private sectors.
- Ensure proper coordination and communication with the country office.
Support Acquisition & Bid Management:
- Assist the acquisition and bid management team in developing concept notes and project proposals by providing technical inputs and information.
- Participate in proposal writing when necessary.
- Explore new funding opportunities and establish networking with relevant organizations.
- Support the development of partnerships/consortia for new business opportunities.
Strategic Program Development:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Cordaid’s country strategy and integrated program approaches.
- Contribute to the development of the Country Strategic Report and the Annual Country Report.
Program Management:
- Manage project risks, stakeholder relationships, and team issues.
- Align project deliverables with stakeholders' expectations, ensuring intercultural sensitivity.
- Adjust project progress to meet scope, time, budget, and quality requirements.
Financial Management:
- Oversee the project budget, ensuring expenses align with the project timeline and plan.
- Report regularly on budget status and take proactive steps to stay within budget.
Donor Coordination and Communication:
- Maintain regular communication with donors and follow their instructions and guidelines.
- Provide necessary information to donors according to their needs.
Field & Partner Visits:
- Monitor program achievements in the field with partners, analyze field reports and data, and formulate recommendations for stakeholders.
Support to Partners:
- Identify and address the support needs of partner organizations, offering customized support based on the unique circumstances of each partner.
Network Representation:
- Establish contacts with organizations and explore collaboration opportunities, considering Cordaid’s mission and existing programs.
Project Reporting:
- Collect and report on project results, budget expenditures, and deviations, proposing solutions to minimize impacts of any deviations.
- Prepare quality project reports, including annual, half-yearly, and project-end reports.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL):
- Lead the development of program learning, research, and publications, ensuring adherence to MEL policies.
- Facilitate the dissemination of promising practices and lessons learned.
- Ensure the integration of innovations and best practices.
Personnel Management:
- Lead and coach the multidisciplinary, intercultural, and inter-gender project team in accordance with Cordaid’s management style.
- Encourage team productivity, professional development, and employee satisfaction.
- Promote team-based work and ensure efficient use of resources while maintaining work quality.
Integrity:
- Uphold and promote Cordaid’s integrity standards and adhere to the organization’s Integrity Framework and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Foster a safe, open, and trusting work environment, encouraging adherence to integrity policies.
Sub-office Management:
- Coordinate the program and projects in the sub-office, including managing security and support staff.
