Responsibilities & Context

  • Oversee the calibration, testing, improvement, and maintenance of precision instruments and equipment used in measurement processes.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Schedule and assign tasks to technicians and staff.
  • Ensure the use of appropriate measurement techniques and standards in processes.
  • Verify that the lab adheres to ISO/IEC 17025 or other relevant quality standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of calibration procedures and results from lab and process testing facilities.
  • Conduct audits of the lab and processes to ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
  • Develop technicians' skills in using metrology equipment and techniques.
  • Manage the maintenance and repair of lab and line equipment to prevent downtime.
  • Recommend the purchase of new equipment and manage inventory for testing systems.
  • Prepare detailed calibration reports and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Manage customer relationships by providing reports, addressing issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Implement new technologies or methodologies to improve lab and line operations.
  • Ensure cost-effective operations without compromising quality.
  • Ensure the lab adheres to health and safety regulations, including the proper handling of hazardous materials.
  • Design fixtures and oversee their implementation.
