Resident Medical Officer - Neurology

Perform minor procedures such as lumbar puncture, aspiration, and peritoneal tap under the supervision of the Registrar.

Assist Consultants in the daily management and care of patients under the guidance of Specialists/Registrars.

Perform on-call duties, attend to patients received through the emergency department, and assist with their management as advised by the Consultant.

Participate in Code Orange situations as a team leader.

Participate in Code Blue situations as a team member.

Conduct initial assessments of patients upon admission.

Take detailed patient histories, perform physical examinations, and complete all required documentation within the first 24 hours of admission.

Arrange appropriate investigations as directed by the primary Consultant and authorize urgent investigations when necessary.

Conduct daily ward rounds for surgical patients, assess their condition, and review their treatment plans as directed by the Consultant.

Complete daily inpatient rounds and ensure that case sheets, progress notes, medical records, and required JCI documentation are properly updated.

Provide appropriate treatment as advised by the Consultant and verify the dosage, frequency, route of administration, and necessary precautions for all medications.

Continuously monitor and evaluate patients’ progress, modify management plans when required, and take appropriate action during medical and surgical emergencies.

Prepare discharge summaries promptly and explain prescribed discharge medications and instructions clearly to patients.

Follow hospital policies and procedures while actively contributing to a safe environment for both patients and staff.
