Education :
  • B.Sc or Equivalent degree in relevant subject with 6 years’ experience in own field after completion of B.Sc course.
  • B.Sc in Lab Medicine / Microbiology / Biochemistry will be preferred.

Responsibilities & Context

  • Design and Maintain Laboratory Tests: Develop and optimize laboratory tests for surveillance projects and outbreak investigations.
  • Analyze Specimens: Perform diagnostic tests on blood, body fluids, and other specimen types.
  • Maintain Equipment: Set up, calibrate, and clean laboratory equipment to ensure efficient functioning.
  • Ensure Quality: Establish and monitor quality assurance programs to guarantee accurate test results.
  • Supervise Staff: Oversee and guide medical technologists, providing training to new team members.
  • Prepare Reports: Compile and submit detailed surveillance and diagnostic reports.
  • Assist with Investigations: Support outbreak investigations and assist with department inspections.
  • Perform Risk Assessments: Evaluate laboratory procedures to ensure compliance with safety and health regulations.
  • Manage Inventory: Oversee the selection, purchasing, storage, and allocation of laboratory equipment and supplies, including data analysis tools.
  • Adhere to Protocols: Follow established clinical and laboratory protocols and seek guidance from the Clinical/Laboratory Director when needed.
  • Meet Clinical Requests: Ensure clinical requests are fulfilled per agreed policies regarding test availability and priority.
  • Monitor and Report: Accurately monitor outgoing tests and report results to relevant authorities.
  • Minimize Errors: Implement measures to reduce laboratory errors throughout the testing process.
  • Additional Duties: Perform any other related duties as assigned
