Position Purpose:
  • This role is responsible for providing technical support in implementing WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) initiatives, strengthening staff capacity through training, ensuring quality construction and installation of WASH facilities, and coordinating with government bodies and other stakeholders in the Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop structured activity plans in alignment with the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), including detailed micro-level schedules.
  • Design work plans for the installation of WASH facilities in communities, schools, and healthcare centers.
  • Assess community needs and willingness to pay; incorporate indigenous knowledge into WASH interventions.
  • Identify suitable sites and context-specific technologies for water and sanitation solutions, addressing water scarcity in CHT.
  • Conduct Training Needs Assessments (TNA) to identify gaps; organize and facilitate trainings, workshops, and refresher sessions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to field staff during implementation.
  • Supervise construction and installation of WASH facilities, ensuring compliance with design, safety standards, and structural integrity.
  • Monitor the quality of construction materials and their adherence to technical specifications.
  • Conduct regular field visits to oversee activities, provide feedback, and ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Track progress of Rural Sanitation Centers (RSC), Hard Core Poor (HCP) support, and Deep Tube Well (DTW) initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (managers, specialists) and external partners (government engineers, NGOs).
  • Assist the operations team in implementing programme activities and participate in regular planning and review meetings.
  • Promote hygiene education and behavior change through campaigns and outreach activities (e.g., handwashing, water safety plans, menstrual hygiene management).
  • Organize events in recognition of global WASH awareness days (e.g., World Water Day, Global Handwashing Day).
  • Engage in advocacy efforts to improve WASH services in collaboration with government officials and other stakeholders.
  • Manage and monitor the WASH project budget, ensuring transparency and efficient use of resources.
  • Prepare timely reports detailing progress, challenges, and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.
