- Extensive experience in corporate law, contract law, litigation, mediation, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven track record in successfully closing legal cases and reducing case turnaround times.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
- Experience managing and developing high-performing legal teams.

Responsibilities & Context
Meghna Group of Industries is seeking a knowledgeable and strategic Senior Law Officer to manage legal matters with a focus on VAT, Customs, Tax issues, recovery of funds, and dishonored cheque cases. This role demands a dedicated, sophisticated professional capable of leading, guiding, and representing MGI’s interests effectively in complex cases.
- Tax and Compliance: Handle legal aspects related to VAT, Customs, and Tax, ensuring the company’s full compliance with regulations and effective resolution of disputes.
- Recovery and Litigation: Oversee the recovery of funds, including handling dishonored cheques and other department-specific recoveries, representing MGI in relevant cases and negotiating settlements when necessary.
- Strategic Legal Guidance: Provide legal counsel to senior management, ensuring alignment with the company’s objectives and compliance with all applicable laws.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with external counsel, regulatory bodies, and government authorities to manage legal risks and uphold MGI’s reputation.
- Legal Documentation and Reporting: Ensure proper legal documentation and provide regular updates to management on ongoing cases and any regulatory changes.
- Litigation and Dispute Resolution: Oversee all litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution processes, representing the company in legal proceedings and negotiating settlements to protect the company's interests.
- Policy Development and Implementation: Design and enforce company-wide legal policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and ensure compliance, particularly in high-risk areas such as supply chain contracts, product liability, and consumer laws.
- Legal Reporting: Provide regular reports to the Board of Directors and senior management on legal risks, ongoing litigation, compliance status, and any regulatory changes affecting the business.
