Provide 24/7 in-house coverage for the Critical Care Unit as part of a shift roster.
Assess, resuscitate, and manage critically ill patients with multi-organ failure, including severe sepsis, ARDS, traumatic brain injury, and post-cardiac arrest cases.
Develop, implement, and review daily management plans in consultation with ICU Consultants.
Perform and supervise critical care procedures such as:
Endotracheal intubation and advanced airway management
Central venous and arterial line insertion
Mechanical ventilation management (invasive and non-invasive)
Chest tube insertion and percutaneous tracheostomy
Cardioversion and transvenous pacing
Interpret complex diagnostic data from ventilators, hemodynamic monitors, ABGs, CXRs, and CT scans.
Lead daily ward rounds with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) alongside ICU Consultants.
Coordinate with nursing staff, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and allied health professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
Maintain accurate, timely, and legible patient records and procedure notes.
Manage patient admissions and discharges for the Critical Care Unit.
Participate in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
Adhere strictly to ICU protocols, infection control policies, and clinical governance standards.
Support the development and implementation of ICU policies and clinical pathways.
Participate fully in a shift roster to provide 24/7 coverage for the Critical Care Unit.
