  • Experience and Educational Requirements
  • Must have extensive experience of product development, sourcing of materials, costing, production tracking and execution of small/large volume orders, and various styles orders independently.
  • Must be knowledgeable of garments construction and costing, specifically Activewear/Sportswear fabric properties, fabric printing, and surface applications (e.g., heat transfer, embroideries, screen-printing).
  • Technical Job Requirements
  • Profound knowledge of Activewear and Sportswear garment engineering and production processes is required.
  • Have sound knowledge of Polyester fabrics and an excellent network of fabric, print, embroidery & trims suppliers.
  • Should have excellent understanding of technical / production proces
  • Should have a passion for product development, an eye for styles/details and fits.
  • Should be able to handle MIS entries
  • Must be capable to handle buyers independently in tremendous pressure with aggressive marketing attitude
  • Must have skills in examining and establishing proper merchandising operations and procedures
  • Good understanding of core business aspects
  • Should have ideas about effective communication for raw materials booking and delivery

Responsibilities & Context

  • The Senior Merchandiser is accountable for managing customer accounts from product development and sampling through to shipment and payment realization. This role involves seamless execution of daily tasks, ensuring timely delivery, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet customer needs and quality standards.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Product Development & Research: Independently manage Activewear research and product development, staying updated on the latest fashion trends, sourcing new yarns, and developing customer-specific collections.
  • Communication Management: Ensure smooth communication with customers and suppliers on day-to-day merchandising activities and approvals.
  • Fabric and Trim Library Management: Continuously update the fabrics, trims, prints, embroideries, washes, and stitch libraries, ensuring easy access to technical data and price references.
  • Customer Requirement Management: Understand customer requirements and work closely with the design team to manage sample production within timelines and quality standards.
  • Task Management: Set priorities, develop work schedules, and monitor progress towards goals, tracking all relevant details, data, and activities.
  • Merchandising Cycle Management: Oversee the full merchandising cycle, including file and record keeping, sampling, Time and Action (T&A) plans, QA file preparation, production follow-ups, and shipment booking.
  • Costing & Negotiation: Engage in costing and price negotiations with customers and vendors, preparing detailed costing sheets with all necessary breakdowns from factories.
  • Supplier Management: Ensure that all suppliers use nominated sources for trims and materials.
  • Cost Intelligence Reporting: Provide monthly intelligence reports to the business on changes in cost factors, including potential rises and falls in current costs.
  • Quality Monitoring: Coordinate and monitor product quality through regular engagement with quality personnel.
  • T&A Plan Management: Maintain and update the T&A plan to ensure on-time shipment for all orders.
  • Supplier Relationship Building: Select and visit fabric/textile mills, production, printing, and washing factories, building long-term relationships for current and future orders.
  • Factory Performance Evaluation: Regularly evaluate factory performance, and source and develop new factories based on customer requirements.
  • Process Improvement Recommendations: Suggest changes to products or processes that could improve production efficiency without affecting the aesthetics of the garment.
  • Production Meetings & Follow-ups: Conduct production meetings with factories and QA teams, and follow up on order progress to ensure timely delivery.
  • Customer Progress Analysis: Analyze customer progress reports to identify growth, shortcomings, and product or pricing issues, closing orders with clarity on costs and margins.
  • Tech Pack Review: Review new tech packs and product developments to identify critical points, ensuring the correct details are provided to factories.
  • Customer Requirement Fulfillment: Ensure all customer requirements are met in production based on their tech packs.
  • Ethical Practices: Understand and maintain ethical behavior and business practices, ensuring that your behavior and the behavior of others align with the organization’s values and standards.
