Experience Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of merchandising experience, preferably in the woven category within a reputable buying office.

• Extensive experience in product development, material sourcing, costing, production monitoring, and independently managing orders of varying volumes and styles.

• Strong knowledge of garment construction and costing, particularly woven fabric properties, fabric printing, and surface embellishment techniques such as heat transfer, embroidery, and screen printing.

The Senior Merchandiser (Woven) is responsible for managing customer accounts throughout the entire order lifecycle, from product development and sampling to shipment and payment collection. The role involves coordinating daily operations with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution and timely delivery.

Job Responsibilities – Paraphrased

• Lead fabric research and product development based on customer specifications and market trends, coordinating with customers, Design, and Technical teams on Tech Packs, sample references, color cards, and other development requirements.

• Coordinate artwork, patterns, measurement specifications, Tech Packs, and sample development with Design, Technical, and factory teams, ensuring customer feedback is incorporated within agreed deadlines.

• Source trims, accessories, and other product components through approved ZXY suppliers in collaboration with the Central Sourcing team, ensuring timely development, approval, and factory availability.

• Assess and select suitable factories for product development and bulk production based on production capabilities, capacity, product specifications, quality standards, and delivery schedules.

• Develop and review preliminary costings, evaluate fabric, trims, and other cost elements, and conduct cross-costing with factory merchandising teams to ensure competitive and commercially viable pricing.

• Coordinate with customers and internal teams regarding costing adjustments, price negotiations, and order specifications to ensure accurate pricing information before order confirmation.

• Verify Purchase Orders (POs), order specifications, delivery schedules, and merchandising documents to ensure accuracy before confirming orders with factories.

• Conduct Risk Analysis and Handover meetings with relevant teams to identify potential challenges, assign corrective actions, and ensure production readiness.

• Collaborate with Laboratory, Technical, Quality, Fabric, Print, Wash, and other relevant departments to secure necessary approvals and resolve product development or production issues.

• Track fabric and trims bookings, sample development, customer approvals, production readiness, and other critical milestones in accordance with the Time & Action calendar.

• Supervise the preparation of Sales Contracts, Differential Sheets, Proforma Invoices (PIs), and other order-related documents, ensuring accuracy and timely updates in ZinfoTrek and customer portals.

• Monitor the performance and follow-up activities of Merchandisers and Junior Merchandisers, review order progress, provide operational guidance, and ensure customer commitments and key milestones are achieved.

• Assist Merchandisers and Junior Merchandisers in resolving customer-related, factory, costing, sampling, and production challenges, escalating major issues to the Team Manager when necessary.

• Track bulk production and shipment progress across assigned orders, working proactively with factories and cross-functional teams to resolve issues and meet quality, delivery, and customer requirements.

• Conduct factory visits when necessary to assess production progress, address operational challenges, guide merchandising teams, and ensure Top Samples, shipment samples, and final shipments are completed within agreed timelines.
