Responsibilities & Context

  • Operate, Maintain, and Monitor Equipment: Manage chillers and pumps by tracking operational data such as temperature, pressure, and flow rate. Make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance.
  • Conduct Routine Inspections: Perform regular inspections to identify malfunctions or required repairs. Maintain detailed records of all operating and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure Water Quality: Monitor water quality and adjust chemical levels as needed to maintain proper water chemistry. Prevent scaling and corrosion in the chilled and condenser water networks.
  • Record Operational Data: Keep accurate records of operational data in logbooks, ensuring that all systems operate within the acceptable range of parameters.
  • Maintain Filtration Systems: Oversee the softener plant and side-stream filtration units to ensure the cooling tower water quality remains high.
  • Perform Repairs and Preventive Maintenance: Repair and conduct preventive maintenance on electrical and mechanical components of chiller units, including panel boards, evaporators, condensers, compressors, cooling towers, pumps, piping, and valves.
  • Manage Chiller Plant Systems: Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot the chiller plant management system that controls the chilled water equipment serving the campus.
  • Ensure Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations set by manufacturers and service providers. Report safety issues to management regularly.
  • Optimize Energy Usage: Analyze energy consumption patterns and implement strategies to optimize energy usage, thereby improving the efficiency of the chiller system.
