Software Engineer Intern

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Strong foundation in programming, data structures, algorithms, and web technologies.

• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language/stack, such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or Node.js.

• Ability to understand, debug, and work with existing codebases developed by others.

• Good knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, webhooks, and third-party integrations.

• Familiarity with Git and version control, including branching, pull requests, and merge conflict resolution.

• Basic understanding of relational or NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.

• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

• Good communication skills and the discipline to work effectively in a remote environment.

Job Context

Skarion is looking for Computer Science graduates to join as Software Engineer Interns. The role offers hands-on experience in software development within a fast-paced startup environment, involving existing projects, active workflows, application features, and internal tools.

The intern will be expected to take ownership of assigned tasks, troubleshoot and resolve bugs, work with unfamiliar codebases, improve system reliability, and contribute across different stages of the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of existing codebases, projects, and operational workflows, understanding their structure and maintaining them effectively.

• Develop, enhance, and deploy new features and functionalities based on business and product requirements.

• Troubleshoot and resolve application bugs, performance issues, and other technical problems.

• Integrate and manage third-party services, REST APIs, and webhooks to support reliable data exchange between platforms.

• Review and improve existing code to enhance readability, maintainability, performance, and system reliability.

• Prepare clear technical documentation covering systems, workflows, and development changes.

• Conduct appropriate testing to ensure new updates and features work reliably before deployment.

• Work closely with the team to understand operational and product requirements and develop practical technical solutions in a fast-paced startup environment.
