Team Leadership & Account Management:
  • Lead a team of merchandisers, ensuring the efficient execution of all merchandising functions, including sample development, order processing, costing, and bulk production.
  • Manage key accounts, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction, communication, and relationship management.
Product Knowledge & Development:
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of denim garment manufacturing, fabrics, trims, and accessories to guide product development and ensure high-quality output.
  • Oversee the product development lifecycle, ensuring products meet client expectations and market demands.
Costing & Pricing:
  • Utilize expertise in costing and product development to develop competitive pricing strategies.
  • Oversee and manage the costing process, ensuring accuracy and profitability while aligning with buyer requirements.
Vendor & Supplier Management:
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of materials and adherence to quality standards.
  • Lead sourcing efforts, ensuring that products meet all specifications and cost targets.
Strategic Planning & Problem Solving:
  • Act as a strategic thinker, analyzing market trends and customer preferences to drive business growth.
  • Identify potential risks or challenges in production or delivery and propose solutions to mitigate them.
Production Monitoring:
  • Oversee production schedules and quality control to ensure that all products are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required specifications.
  • Work with the production team to address any production issues, ensuring quick resolutions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, sales, and production, to ensure smooth workflow and timely execution of all projects.
  • Coordinate with global teams to ensure consistency and alignment in product offerings and business strategy.
Reporting & Performance Metrics:
  • Provide regular updates to senior management, highlighting performance metrics, production schedules, and key account progress.
  • Monitor performance and suggest improvements to streamline processes and increase efficiency.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years in merchandising, with at least 3-4 years in a managerial role.
  • Industry Expertise: Strong knowledge of denim garment manufacturing, fabrics, trims, and accessories.
  • Product Development & Costing: Proven experience in costing, pricing strategies, and product development.
  • Key Account Management: Demonstrated success in managing and growing key accounts.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities, with experience leading and motivating a team.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Multitasking & Time Management: Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office, ERP systems, and other relevant software used in merchandising and production management.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a team and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with colleagues and external partners.

Responsibilities & Context

Team Leadership and Account Management:

  • Lead and manage a team of merchandisers to handle multiple accounts, ensuring the efficient execution of sample development, costing, order processing, and bulk production.
  • Foster a collaborative environment where team members can share insights and strategies to improve performance and achieve targets.
Product Research and Development:
  • Conduct product research and development, providing design inspiration and strategic direction for product categories.
  • Collaborate with brands to ensure product offerings align with market trends and customer demands.
Vendor Relationship Management:
  • Maintain strong business relationships with all vendors, leveraging their resources to assist in category management decisions and execution.
  • Negotiate favorable terms and ensure high-quality product sourcing.
Global Collaboration and Business Opportunities:
  • Collaborate with global counterparts to identify business opportunities, trends, and market demands to maximize net sales and profitability.
  • Ensure global alignment and consistency in product offerings and strategies.
Production and Supply Chain Oversight:
  • Monitor the entire production process, ensuring that all pre-production approvals are in place, and materials are continuously supplied to support flawless execution.
  • Analyze and review monthly production plans, ensuring that production schedules meet timelines and quality standards.
On-Time Delivery and Problem Resolution:
  • Monitor production schedules to ensure on-time delivery of products.
  • Address any delays or production challenges, working closely with teams to implement corrective actions.
Sourcing and Vendor Management:
  • Lead efforts to introduce new sourcing strategies and product developments.
  • Ensure effective product management, sourcing, vendor management, and quality assurance to maintain high standards.
Employee Development and Retention:
  • Continue to develop and retain talented employees by recognizing and rewarding performance.
  • Conduct monthly development plans and annual performance reviews to assess team member progress and growth.
Capacity Planning and Business Growth:
  • Establish a long-term capacity and business growth plan to optimize low-cost operations and improve on-time delivery.
  • Ensure that the team is equipped to handle increasing demands and scale operations effectively.
