Projahnmo Research Foundation in association with Johns Hopkins University has a long history of conducting public health research in Bangladesh. PRF’s research initiatives have contributed significantly to improving healthcare services and supporting the professional development of public health professionals in Bangladesh.

PRF is implementing the “Implementation Research to Scale-up and Evaluate the Impact of Antenatal Corticosteroids (ACS) on Preterm Newborn Outcomes” study. The objective of the study is to identify challenges and opportunities in implementing WHO-recommended criteria for ACS use and to develop effective programmatic solutions for improving safe ACS coverage in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The study follows a mixed-methods research design incorporating both qualitative and quantitative approaches.

The organization is seeking qualified and motivated Bangladeshi nationals for the position of Study Physician for the ACS-IR study.

Major Responsibilities

1. Planning and Implementation of Project Activities

• Plan and supervise mapping and assessment of public and private health facilities within the assigned study catchment area

• Coordinate and supervise data collection activities according to the approved work plan

• Assist in developing implementation plans, data collection strategies, and quality assurance mechanisms

• Observe field data collection activities and provide on-the-job coaching to data collectors and implementation teams

2. Monitoring, Supervision, and Reporting

• Supervise daily activities of data collectors and ensure data credibility and quality

• Review collected data, dashboards, tables, and graphs, and provide feedback to hospital teams and supervisors

• Identify gaps and recommend potential solutions based on data analysis findings

• Organize and facilitate periodic meetings, training sessions, and capacity-building activities at the local level

• Prepare weekly, fortnightly, and monthly progress reports as required

• Respond to study-related data queries and ensure proper reporting

3. Coordination and Liaison

• Coordinate regularly with DGHS, DGFP, professional organizations, academia, and other stakeholders for study implementation

• Maintain liaison with district hospital authorities, OBGYN specialists, Pediatricians, Neonatologists, Civil Surgeon offices, DDFP offices, NGOs, and private stakeholders

• Participate in district-level meetings and study-related online meetings

• Facilitate and coordinate MOHFW and donor field visits

4. Administrative and Financial Responsibilities

• Ensure proper documentation and archiving of study records and project documents

• Ensure proper and optimum use of project logistics, including data forms, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers

• Assist in reviewing expenses, supporting documents, and financial records

• Support medicine, commodity, and logistics management required for the study

5. Other Responsibilities

• Perform any additional activities assigned by the supervisor or organization related to the study or organizational requirements

• Initial appointment may be extended based on satisfactory performance and availability of project funding
