Education:

  • SSC, HSC, or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics (preferred).

Experience:

  • 3 to 7 years in industries such as agro-based firms (including agro processing, seeds, GM), automobile, chemical, electronic equipment/home appliances, packaged food and beverage, FMCG manufacturing, paint, toiletries, wholesale, or similar sectors.

Additional Requirements:

A. Knowledge
Utility Systems:

  • Strong understanding of Chillers, Cooling Towers, and HVAC/AHU systems.
  • Knowledge of Compressed Air Systems.
  • Familiarity with HWG systems, steam distribution, condensate systems, safety interlocks, and basic operations.
  • Knowledge of WTP/RO/Softener systems, water quality parameters, dosing systems, filtration, and supply requirements.

Monitoring & Compliance:

  • Understanding of key monitoring parameters: temperature, pressure, flow, humidity, water quality (TDS, hardness, pH), compressor dew point, and safety limits.
  • Basic knowledge of regulatory and audit requirements for utilities (safety inspections, calibration, environmental compliance, BEZA guidelines).

Maintenance & Reliability:

  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance planning, lubrication practices, vibration/condition monitoring basics, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Understanding of root cause analysis for repeated utility failures and failure prevention techniques.

B. Skills & Abilities
Technical & Maintenance:

  • Hands-on capability to operate and maintain utility systems with strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Skilled in mechanical repairs (pump seals, motor coupling alignment, valve replacement, leak fixing, filter replacement).
  • Ability to diagnose and correct electrical faults (motor trips, wiring issues, sensor faults, interlock problems).
  • Competence in operating utility panels, handling alarms, and restoring systems safely.

Operational Monitoring & Documentation:

  • Maintain daily utility logs, readings, preventive maintenance checklists, and breakdown reports.

Resource & Efficiency Management:

  • Manage consumables and spare parts to ensure critical items are available.
  • Support utility optimization and loss reduction initiatives (e.g., air leak audits, energy-saving measures).

Coordination & Communication:

  • Coordinate with QA and vendor teams for utility availability and rapid recovery.
  • Communicate technical issues clearly during emergencies and shift handovers.

C. Attitude

  • Safety-First Mindset: Strict compliance with safety standards, LOTO, and pressure safety protocols.
  • High Ownership: Take responsibility for uninterrupted utility supply to ensure production continuity.
  • Proactive & Preventive: Identify early warning signs and prevent failures before breakdowns occur.
  • Solution-Oriented: Strong troubleshooting skills under downtime pressure.
  • Continuous Improvement: Willingness to adopt reliability and energy-saving practices.

D. Other Job Requirements

  • Flexible for rotating shifts, weekend coverage, and emergency calls.
  • Physically able to work in utility areas (hot/noisy environments), handle tools, climb ladders, and perform maintenance tasks.
  • Preferred certifications: refrigeration/HVAC training, electrical safety certification, water treatment training. 
 

Responsibilities & Context

Utility Operations & Monitoring

  • Operate, monitor, and ensure stable performance of all utility equipment and distribution systems, including Chillers, Compressors, AHUs, HWG/Boilers, WTP/RO systems, Cooling Towers, DG sets, and electrical distribution where applicable.
  • Maintain utility performance within defined operating ranges and respond promptly to abnormal readings or alarms.
  • Conduct routine checks on pressure, flow, temperature, humidity, water quality, electrical load, vibration, and overall system efficiency indicators.

Preventive Maintenance (PM) Execution

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance according to OEM guidelines for all utility systems.
  • Carry out inspections, lubrication, filter cleaning/replacement, belt and coupling checks, valve checks, leak detection, and alignment tasks.
  • Maintain accurate PM documentation and checklists.

Corrective Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Respond to breakdowns and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and basic instrumentation faults in utility systems.
  • Diagnose and fix issues such as compressor pressure loss, chiller trips, AHU malfunctions, boiler/HWG safety alarms, water quality deviations, pump failures, electrical faults, and leakages.
  • Coordinate with operations teams for safe isolation, repair, restoration, and validation of utilities.

Continuous Optimization (CO) & Energy Efficiency

  • Support energy optimization efforts by improving compressor efficiency, reducing air leaks, optimizing chiller loads, enhancing AHU performance, and minimizing water losses.
  • Monitor utility consumption trends and help identify opportunities for energy savings, performance improvements, and sustainability compliance.
  • Assist in root cause analysis of recurring failures and contribute to reliability improvement, including reducing downtime and increasing MTBF.

Safety, Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure strict adherence to electrical and mechanical safety protocols, LOTO procedures, pressure vessel safety, and safe handling of chemicals and utilities.
  • Comply with regulatory and audit requirements related to utilities, including water quality, equipment certification, and safety inspection records.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of utility readings, maintenance logs, calibration records, and compliance reports.
