Synovia Pharma originated in 1958 as part of the British chemical firm May & Baker, later evolving through a series of global mergers involving Fisons, Rhône-Poulenc, and Hoechst Marion Roussel into Sanofi-Aventis in 2004, and eventually Sanofi Bangladesh Limited in 2013. On October 1, 2021, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited acquired a 54.6% majority stake in the entity, paving the way for its current operations under Synovia Pharma. Today, the company operates a state-of-the-art 25-acre manufacturing complex in Tongi, Gazipur—including a PIC/S-certifiable facility dedicated to cephalosporin antibiotics—where it continues to manufacture and market legacy Sanofi products alongside an expanded therapeutic portfolio aimed at meeting unaddressed healthcare needs in Bangladesh.
