Additional Requirements

• Ensure proper chemical storage, labeling, secondary containment, and safe handling in all relevant departments.
• Ensure chemical and environmental compliance with all internal activities, aligned with industry codes of practice and relevant textile sector regulations.
• Collect and verify all compliance certificates and guarantee letters from chemical suppliers.
• Analyze Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) using CAS numbers, GHS pictograms, and verify against ZDHC MRSL to ensure no restricted or banned chemicals are used (including the 11 priority chemical groups).
• Audit, Monitoring & Reporting
• Conduct internal environmental and chemical audits as per Buyer Code of Conduct (COC) to ensure compliance, identify non-conformities (NC), and recommend corrective actions.
• Follow up with relevant line managers to ensure corrective actions are properly implemented.
• Monitor and evaluate environmental parameters in accordance with DOE standards, ECR-1997, and Buyer COC.
• Prepare and implement Corrective Action Plans when non-compliances are identified.
• Monitor and control water consumption to ensure sustainability and efficient resource use.
• Track CETP (Central Effluent Treatment Plant) performance and regularly liaise with DOE and BEPZA to maintain factory environmental clearance.
• Sustainability Standards & Certifications
• Support implementation and maintenance of environmental and sustainability standards such as:
• Higg FEM, ISO 14001:2015 (EMS)
• GOTS, OCS, RCS, GRS, GTW
• ZDHC Gateway, Detox, CleanChain, and DoE Gateway
• BVE3 and other buyer-specific protocols
• Environmental Management & Energy Efficiency
• Develop and implement Environmental Management System (EMS), Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Environmental Management Plan (EMP), and Chemical Management Plan (CMP).
• Conduct energy audits and implement energy management plans to optimize energy use and minimize waste.
• Documentation & Labeling
• Ensure MSDS availability and proper labeling of all chemicals in:
• Central chemical store
• Distribution sub-stores
• Dyeing, printing, CETP (BEPZA), and other applicable operational areas
• Additional Duties
• Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by management to support environmental, health, and safety objectives.
