Age: At least 25 years.
Must have valid BMDC registration.
Prior experience in public awareness programs is required.
Experience working in a blood bank or transfusion medicine will be considered an added advantage.
Conduct medical assessments of inpatients, including history taking, physical examinations, and ordering diagnostic tests for thalassemia patients.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for thalassemia patients.
Determine blood transfusion requirements and oversee the administration of transfusions, ensuring patient safety and infection control.
Collaborate with hematologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated and comprehensive care.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient cases, treatment plans, and discharge planning.
Coordinate with laboratory and diagnostic services for timely and accurate test results.
Work with administrative staff to schedule patient appointments efficiently.
Monitor patients’ progress, adjust treatments as necessary, and manage complications or side effects.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including histories, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements regarding documentation and patient care.
Stay updated with the latest medical research and advancements in thalassemia care.
Educate patients and families about thalassemia, its complications, and the importance of adherence to treatment plans.
Provide counseling and emotional support to help patients and families cope with the chronic nature of the disease.
Organize blood donation campaigns ensuring donor safety and education while following regulatory guidelines.
Develop and implement educational initiatives to raise awareness about blood donation, dispel myths, and highlight its life-saving impact through presentations.
Follow a roster-based work schedule with two shifts: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm and 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
