Trainer - English Language

BRAC is a Bangladesh-founded international development organization working with communities affected by poverty and inequality to create sustainable opportunities and enable people to reach their full potential.

The BRAC Skills Development Programme (SDP), established in its current form in 2015, focuses on providing market-relevant skills training, entrepreneurship development, and career support. The programme promotes inclusive access to skills development and has supported hundreds of thousands of individuals, including women, persons with disabilities, and transgender people.

The Trainer – English Language will conduct classroom-based English training focused on spoken English, communication, workplace English, and professional interaction. The role aims to strengthen participants’ communication abilities, confidence, and workplace readiness for both local and international employment opportunities.

Major Responsibilities

• Conduct English language classes following the approved curriculum, lesson plans, and training schedules.
• Develop learners’ skills in speaking, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, listening, reading, and writing through interactive activities.
• Provide training on workplace communication, Business English, customer service, telephone etiquette, presentations, interviews, and professional interactions.
• Use learner-focused methods such as role plays, group discussions, presentations, debates, pair activities, and practical exercises.
• Evaluate learners through tests, quizzes, assignments, presentations, oral assessments, and regular performance reviews.
• Prepare participants for job interviews, workplace communication, customer-facing positions, and professional environments.
• Prepare lesson plans, presentations, learning materials, quizzes, assessment tools, and digital resources according to programme requirements.
• Maintain accurate attendance and learner progress records, conduct surveys, and complete required data entry in Taroworks.
• Support counselling, career preparation, and inclusive learning activities for participants.

Safeguarding Responsibilities

• Promote a safe environment by protecting programme participants, staff, and other individuals associated with the organization from harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, exploitation, and sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA).
• Promote awareness and proper implementation of safeguarding policies and standards among team members.
• Follow established safeguarding procedures and report any incidents that require formal attention.
• Encourage colleagues and relevant stakeholders to follow safeguarding policies and reporting mechanisms.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Applied Linguistics, Mass Communication & Journalism, Business Communication, or a related discipline from a recognized university.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in English language teaching or training, particularly in Spoken English or Business English.

Additional Requirements

• Strong command of English grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, communication, and language-teaching techniques.
• Ability to conduct engaging English classes using effective teaching approaches, digital tools, lesson plans, assessments, and interactive activities.
• Ability to provide learners with effective coaching, mentoring, and communication support.
