Identify key risks across different agroecological zones and farmer segments. Analyse climate risks and their impact on agricultural insurance products. Insurance Product Development Review existing agricultural insurance products and risk models under the Uganda Agricultural Insurance Scheme (UAIS). Support the design and refinement of climate-sensitive, fit-for-purpose insurance products. Develop and validate prototype products using climate, agricultural, exposure, and historical loss data. Premium Calculation & Pricing Develop and validate premium calculation methods using agricultural, climate, and historical loss data. Provide technical inputs to improve pricing accuracy and reduce underwriting uncertainty. Loss Modelling Develop, review, and validate agricultural loss models using relevant historical and climate data. Analyse the relationship between climate events and agricultural losses. Support efforts to reduce basis risk through improved modelling and product design. Climate & Agricultural Data Analysis Interpret meteorological, hydrological, agricultural, and economic data for insurance applications. Translate climate indicators and agricultural datasets into actionable risk insights. Analyse indicators such as rainfall anomalies, vegetation stress, soil moisture, and evapotranspiration. Risk Scoring & Exposure Analysis Support risk-scoring methodologies for farmers, crops, portfolios, and geographic areas. Assist with farmer segmentation and exposure modelling. Contribute to tools for assessing risk at farmer, portfolio, and national levels. Decision-Support Tools Provide technical inputs for developing CDP decision-support tools for insurance applications. Support tools related to product design, pricing, risk assessment, and risk-sharing. Review and validate model assumptions, methodologies, and outputs. Reinsurance & Risk-Sharing Provide technical inputs for evidence-based reinsurance and risk-sharing frameworks. Analyse portfolio risks to support reinsurance arrangements and capital allocation. Contribute to recommendations on layered reinsurance, public-private pooling, and subsidy models. Pilot Testing & Validation Participate in testing the Climate Data Platform and decision-support tools in selected pilot districts. Validate the relevance and practicality of platform outputs for agricultural insurance. Participate in stakeholder validation workshops and incorporate agreed feedback. Stakeholder Engagement & Knowledge Transfer Collaborate with insurers, regulators, and other stakeholders to understand agricultural insurance requirements. Support knowledge sharing and capacity building on climate and agricultural insurance data. Contribute to training materials and practical user guidance. Technical Reporting & Recommendations Provide technical inputs to project reports, pilot testing reports, use-case reports, and other deliverables. Document lessons learned and recommend improvements to agricultural insurance applications. Contribute to the national scale-up strategy for the Climate Data Platform.
