Aungkur Palli Unnayan Kendra (APUK) is a Bangladeshi local, non-political, and non-profit organization focused on rural development. Founded in 1989, it has been carrying out development initiatives since 1991 in the Madaripur District of Bangladesh. The organization is committed to the socio-economic advancement of the poor, with a particular focus on supporting oppressed and marginalized women. Its mission is to empower the poor to form grassroots organizations, enabling them to actively participate in the development process and challenge existing social inequalities in rural areas. APUK believes that strengthening both personal and institutional capacities can unlock human potential, mobilize and manage resources effectively, and ultimately improve the quality of life, paving the way for a sustainable and equitable society.
