The Hypertension and Research Centre, Rangpur, a sister concern of Dr. Wasim-Waleda Bahumukhi Kallayan Foundation, was established on 14 November 2008 with a mission to raise public awareness about hypertension and its associated risks. The center is dedicated to reducing morbidity and mortality caused by high blood pressure through research, education, and healthcare services. Hypertension is a major global health concern, claiming nearly 8 million lives annually worldwide and 1.5 million lives each year in the South-East Asia region. In Bangladesh, approximately 20–25% of adults suffer from hypertension. Alarmingly, nearly 40% of deaths in the country are directly or indirectly linked to hypertension and its complications. The center continues to work as part of a broader humanitarian effort to improve public health and save lives.
