Willingness to be posted in remote coastal or island areas (such as lighthouses or beacon stations). Physically fit and mentally prepared for isolation and extreme weather conditions. Disciplined, responsible, and detail-oriented. Basic ability to read and write in Bengali and/or English (for report-keeping and communication).

Responsibilities & Context

  • Maintenance of Navigational Lights
  • Ensure all lighthouse or beacon lights are operational, especially during night and poor weather conditions.
  • Switch lights on and off according to maritime schedules.
  • Technical Equipment Supervision
  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems such as batteries, generators, or solar power units used to power the lights.
  • Replace or repair faulty parts when necessary.
  • Ensuring Maritime Safety
  • Make sure navigational lights are functioning properly to guide ships safely through coastal or inland waterways.
  • Maintain warning lights or signals in hazardous zones.
  • Reporting and Record-Keeping
  • Keep detailed logs of light operation, power usage, equipment maintenance, and any malfunctions.
  • Submit regular reports to superiors or relevant maritime authorities.
  • Upkeep and Safety of Premises
  • Clean and maintain the lighthouse or station building.
  • Follow safety protocols to prevent fire hazards, electrical short circuits, or mechanical failures.
  • Work Location
  • Coastal areas, islands, or remote lighthouse stations
  • Ports like Chattogram, Mongla, or Payra (in Bangladesh context)
  • Required Qualifications
  • Basic or secondary level education
  • Knowledge of electrical or mechanical systems
