DAM Foundation for Economic Development (DFED) was established in June 2014 by Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) as a specialized institution focused on economic development. The primary objective of DFED is to provide financial services and implement development programs aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of underprivileged communities by creating employment opportunities, increasing income, and enhancing financial and asset resources.
It is noteworthy that DFED emerged from the merger of DAM’s long-standing Microfinance Programme, which was initiated in 1993 with the aim of alleviating poverty and empowering women by improving the standard of living for marginalized populations across the country. Over the years, DAM's Microfinance Programme evolved into a sustainable initiative.
To institutionalize and expand this impact, DAM established DFED as a Social Enterprise, positioning it as a dedicated platform to carry forward and scale up its microfinance and economic development efforts nationwide.
